PG&E Power Shutoffs - Monday School Closure Updates

October 23, 2019

*UPDATE* Wednesday October 30, 2019 10:15 a.m. PST - Go to latest news here.

PG&E’s principal meteorologist, Scott Strenfel, says the weekend’s winds could top historical records going back decades. Strenfel told reporters the humidity levels are expected to be low and “bone dry,” mimicking those commonly found in desert regions.

PG&E begins to shut off power to 940,000 customers in Northern California. Saturday Public Safety Power Shutoff is due to a high winds forecast moving through the region later in the evening. PG&E said windy conditions will begin Saturday sometime between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and will continue through midday Monday. Customers should prepare for an extended outage that will last at least two days once the severe weather has passed, the utility said.
