Thrill's Big Brown Blog is Allergic

July 11, 2017

Today, we asked, "What was your worst allergic reaction?" Two stories inspired today's question:

If you don't feel like reading the whole thing, here it is in a nutshell:  dude ordered a drink at Starbucks and specifically asked for SOY milk. He got DAIRY milk instead. He's lactose intolerant and used the toilet ELEVEN times in FOUR hours. He was not pleased...and he felt compelled to let Starbucks know.

Story in a nutshell: if you have a gluten allergy or, worse, Celiac Disease, AND you're a practicing Catholic, bad news...God doesn't care. The Vatican sent out a worldwide edict that specifies that COMMUNION wafers MUST contain gluten.

Praise the lord!!!

There was no shortage of responses because everybody's got something...but the call that stands out came from an, um, interesting fella named Dustin.

Dustin explained that he's allergic to green olives. He discovered this on his birthday when he was given a "white trash martini" by his girlfriend.

What is a "white trash martini"? Good question. A "white trash martini" is a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer with a few green olives in it. If that sounds disgusting, it's because it is.

Anyway, he broke into hives, got itchy and all that, but he didn't think it was the olives. As he put it, "I didn't think much of it. I just figured she'd poisoned me or something."

We're not sure he really heard the words coming out of his mouth because he made the above statement with a calmness usually reserved for watching paint dry.

Anyway, after many 'white trash martinis', he realized that the olives were the hive-inducing culprit.

We asked if he now avoids green olives. We SHOULDN'T have been shocked by his answer...but we were when he told us that he keeps a jar of olives in his work locker so he can eat a few, have a break out and get out of work early.

Yep. We share the world with this guy. Part of me is terrified, part of me is so impressed with this guy.

I'm so confused.

Until tomorrow, do what you do best and STAY BEAUTIFUL!
