After recently having to leave their co-headling tour with Breaking Benjamin to undergo back surgery, Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer has announced he’s officially parting ways with the band.

Spencer has been a part of FFDP for fourteen years, joining when the band first formed and continuing their run together until his physical struggles prevented him from doing so. In a heartfelt statement about his departure, he pointed to the months that it’s taken him to make the decision to leave the chart-topping rock band.

The split comes on more than amicable terms with Spencer noting his physical inability to keep up with the rigor of continuously playing drums and delivering energetic performances as his sole reason for leaving. He also plans to continue to make music in the future and is already working on other projects.

“I feel the band deserves to get someone with the fire and energy, capable of delivering the performance that the fans deserve,” he explained in a statement before wishing them the best.
